In Season Fruits and Vegetables Fall / Autumn

Today, I arrived at my sons Charter School here in Commerce City, Colorado to find they were giving parents a box of fresh produce. It was packed by a local company Colo-Pac and included locally grown fruits and veggies. The mom chef inside me was squealing like a little girl.

Here’s a photo for proof. 

We go through fruits and vegetables quickly as a family of four. This only makes me love this season so much more, and i”m not sure I knew that was possible. There are a million things to love about the changing seasons, but my favorite by far is the new selection of produce. Eating fruits and vegetables in season are not only more nutritious, but also fresher and more delicious. With each new season comes a new google search for the tastiest fruits and veggies I can feed my babies. When a fruit or vegetable is in season my kiddos are most likely to eat it or at least try it. Something about perfectly ripe fruit that calls on our souls. Our bodies crave what they need for nutrients when we nourish them properly. Fruits and vegetables are the very items keeping our systems healthy and preventing disease, so why not get your daily intake with the tastiest of the season.
